Pay to get planning advice

Use this service to pay for planning advice (called 'discretionary advice').

You can request advice on:

• land contamination
• ground water protection
• flood consequence assessments
• nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs)
• developments of national significance
• marine developments
  
  

How much it costs

The cost is £125 an hour plus VAT. We will provide an estimate of the work and cost to help you decide if you want to use the service.

Before you start

You need to provide:

• your name and contact information
• name and contact information for invoicing
• reference for any free (preliminary) advice you had from us about this proposal
• any advice about this proposal from the local planning authority (upload up to 10 documents of 50MB each)
• details of the type of advice you want and documentation, for example a flood consequence assessment including a copy of any checklists we supplied as part of our free pre-application advice

If you have not already had free advice from us

We also need:

• location plan showing the boundary of the proposed development. Use a scale between 1:10,000 and 1:25,000 and show any watercourses or water bodies within your development site
• indicative layout plan of the proposed works, including all proposed access roads, buildings, details of the method of disposing of foul sewage and any other proposed structures, together with any site formation and temporary works that you propose to carry out
• where relevant, a plan of any other development or works that you may carry out, or request others to carry out, in order to construct and/or to operate your proposed development
• a description of:
  • current use of the site
  • proposed new use
  • size and type of the development
