Information you need to prepare before you change a species licence
Adding licenced accredited agents or licenced authorised persons
You will need to provide:
- the person's contact details
- details of any convictions relating to wildlife offences or animal welfare related offences
Removing licenced accredited agents or licenced authorised persons
You will need to tell us:
- the name of the person you want to remove
Updating contact details
You will need to tell us:
- whose details you want to change
- their updated contact details
Changing the lead licensee
To change the lead licensee, you must tell us:
- the new lead licensee's name and address
- if they have ever been convicted of a wildlife offence or animal welfare related offence
Changing the licenced nominated ecologist
If the new ecologist has been named as a licenced nominated ecologist on a Natural Resources Wales species licence for the same species and activities, you will need to provide:
- their species licence number
If they have not been named as an licenced nominated ecologist on a Natural Resources Wales licence before, they must provide two references for you to upload.
Changing the works timetable or licence period
You will need to tell us:
- the new end date (bird control licences only)
- why you want to make the change
- what work is still left to do in the method statement
You must also upload a copy of the updated works timetable. This must clearly show all revised dates.
Adding species
You can add new species to a licence, or add more of the same species.
You will need to tell us:
- the species you are adding
- why you are adding them
You must also upload the latest version of the method statement.
Bird control licences
You will need to tell us:
- what species add or increase
- how many you need the licence to cover
- if you intend to capture them and how
- if you intend to kill the birds or release them alive
- if you intend to shoot the birds and what firearm you intend to use
- why you are adding them
Adding techniques and equipment
You can add new techniques or equipment if the methods in your current licence are not working.
You will need to tell us:
- what techniques and equipment you want to add
- give evidence of training and experience

Survey licences
Training course
A training course completed within the last two years, including:
- name of the course
- date completed
- course provider or trainer
Or
Licence already held
Details of a licence held with Natural Resources Wales or Natural England, including:
- licence number
- the date mist netting or stupefying baits were last used under that licence
Method statement
You must upload the latest version of the method statement showing the proposed changes, unless you are changing a bird control licence.
