Removing wild birds from food premises
What to do if wild birds enter your food premises.
Use non-lethal methods
You must try non-lethal methods to remove the birds. You must do this before you consider carrying out actions under a general or specific bird licence.
Alternatives to lethally controlling wild birds.
Check the general licence
If non-lethal methods do not work, there is a general licence which permits certain people to remove certain wild birds from food premises to preserve public health and safety. You must still release these birds unharmed and alive.
You do not need to apply a general licence.
You must read it fully and be able to comply with all of the terms and conditions.
If you cannot comply with the conditions, you must apply for a bird licence.
