Change a species licence
Use this service to request changes to an existing species licence and want to:
- update names and address of people on the licence
- add or remove people from the licence
- change the lead licensee or nominated ecologist
- add species
- add techniques or equipment
- change the licence period
- request other changes to an existing licence
Check if you can use this service
You cannot use this service if:
- you are only updating a telephone number or email address, contact the species permitting team instead
- your survey licence has expired, you must submit a new licence application
If you have another type of species licence and it expired more than 4 weeks ago, you may need to submit a new licence application instead. What changes users can still make if the licence expired more than 4 weeks ago?
Apply online
You will need:
- your licence number
- the name of the lead licensee
Documents you may need to upload
- end of licence report
- an updated method statement, if the methods have changed

How long it takes
We can only assess your request once we have all the information we need. If we need to ask for more information, this will delay our decision.
- Changes to people named on the licence or their personal details take up to 15 working days
- All other changes take up to 30 working days
Charges
- Changes to people named on the licence or personal details: £79
- All other changes: £125 per hour
You will not be charged if a waiver applies to your licence.
