Placements, apprenticeships and volunteering

At Natural Resources Wales, we are committed to the development of a skilled workforce for Wales. People on placement can also make a significant contribution to our work.

We are developing a range of placement and volunteering opportunities.

Student work experience

​We offer work experience placements for students aged 15 and older.

Our placements allow students to gain skills, knowledge and an insight into our work.

We do not currently have any student work experience opportunities.

Placements for youth or school groups

We do not provide placements for youth or school groups.

Graduate scheme

We intend to pilot a graduate scheme in the 2026/27 academic year.

PhD research placements

Our research placements are open to undergraduates and graduates.

The structure and funding of a research placement varies.

We do not currently have any research placement opportunities.

Apprenticeships

We intend to offer apprenticeship level roles for school leavers aged 16 and older.

We do not currently have any apprenticeship opportunities.

Volunteering

A volunteer is a person on an unpaid placement.

If you volunteer with us, you will gain an insight into our work and the wider environmental sector.

The length of our volunteer placements varies according to the opportunity.
