Placements, apprenticeships and volunteering

At Natural Resources Wales, we are committed to the development of a skilled workforce for Wales. People on placement can also make a significant contribution to our work.

We are developing a range of placement opportunities.

We also offer opportunities for volunteers.

We will update this page when more details are available or you can sign up for our alerts to be the first to hear about our opportunities.

Foundation placement (apprenticeship)

Our foundation placements will be apprenticeship level roles for school or college leavers aged 16 years and over.

Student placement (sandwich year/industry placement)

Our student placements will be aimed at students who are studying for an undergraduate or postgraduate  degree.

They will include sandwich year placements and placements for students who need to work for a year in industry.

Graduate placement

Our graduate placements will be for people who have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

We intend to pilot a graduate scheme in the 2026/27 academic year.

Student work experience

Our work experience placements will be for students aged 15 years and older.

These placements allow students to gain skills, knowledge and an insight into our work.

Placements for youth or school groups

We do not have a student work experience scheme or offer placements for youth or school groups.

We have produced a range of education resources for education providers and group leaders.

Volunteering

If you volunteer with us, you will gain an insight into our work and the wider environmental sector.
